Irwin Mitchell’s Brain Injury Conference takes place on Thursday 5 February 2026 (9:00am–5:00pm) at 116 Pall Mall, Institute of Directors, St James’s, London.
This year’s theme, “The Language of Recovery: Communication Across the Brain Injury Spectrum,” focuses on how communication can change following acquired brain injury (ABI) and what effective, inclusive
support looks like in practice.
The programme brings together advocacy specialists and leading speech and language therapy experts to explore key topics including cognitive communication disorders and multicultural communication challenges. Representatives from the United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF) will also provide an update on the national ABI strategy, while UKABIF’s N-ABLES group will share insights on supporting education professionals to better
teach and include children with brain injury.
Lived experience is central to the day. Liam Hamilton and Meg Fozzard from Irwin Mitchell’s Imagine campaign, alongside inspirational clients, will share
personal accounts of brain injury following serious injury or medical negligence, highlighting the real-world impact of communication changes on daily life, identity and recovery.
The conference also includes uplifting contributions from the wider ABI community, including a special stand-up comedy slot and music from Headway East London’s Choir.
Charities working across brain injury and disability will be exhibiting throughout the day, offering valuable opportunities for networking, learning and connection, with post-conference drinks available for attendees.
Please note: the organisers have advised the event is currently at capacity, and interested attendees will be notified if a place becomes available.
