Acquired Brain Injury and Neurorehabilitation in Wales: Time for Change

A group focused on the ambitions of the Time for Change programme has been established for some time emanating from the regional group in South Wales (SWABIF).

The ‘Amser am Newid Cymru - Time for Change Wales  group was established in  recognition that the unique sociocultural landscape of Wales warranted an equivalent report to the APPG Time for Change report that considers the demographics, geography and service provision in Wales.

In 2021, this need resulted in the development and publication of the Acquired Brain Injury and Neurorehabilitation in Wales: Time for Change’ report, funded by Kyle’s Goal. The ‘Amser am Newid Cymru – Time for Change Wales’ currently focuses on Education and Health, both devolved matters in Wales.

Key activities:

    • In 2022, a petition  to 'ensure appropriate provision of services and support for people with an Acquired Brain Injury in Wales' was submitted to the Welsh Senedd, led by Dr Claire Williams, School of Psychology, Swansea University
  •

    • In February 2023, the Amser am Newid Cymru/ Time for Change Wales, launched a UK-wide survey exploring educators perceptions and understanding of childhood acquired brain injury in collaboration with N-ABLES.
  •

    • The group are supporting the adaptation and translation of the Return to Education guidance to reflect the ALNET process in Wales.
