The UKABIF awards are now open to receive applications and nominations. There are four awards in the scheme which are: The UKABIF Film Award; The Mike Barnes Award for Innovation; The UKABIF Poster Award and The Stephen McAleese Award for Inspiration. Each award has a separate application procedure and details are located on the relevant web pages. All presentations will be made at the UKABIF Summit which will take place on Monday 8th November 2021 at the Royal Society of Medicine in London. There will also be a streamed version of the event which will run concurrently. Now in their 12th year the UKABIF awards are designed to recognise people’s experience of acquired brain injury together with individuals and good practice. Executive Director of UKABIF Chloe Hayward said, ‘we are really looking forward to seeing this year’s entrants. The past 18 months has showed us how important innovation is and has also made us all make better use of film-based communications. There is no lack of heroes in this sector and we have seen a huge rise in people contacting us about their research. There should be plenty of entries - we would urge everyone to have a go!’ This year the awards are sponsored by Elysium Neurological. Professor Nick Alderman, Clinical Director, Neurobehavioural Rehabilitation Services & Head of Psychology, Elysium Neurological Services said, ‘Elysium Neurological is delighted to be this year’s sponsors of the UKABIF Awards. The awards give people a platform to showcase and express real and current issues relating to ABI, be that through research, inspiration, innovation or film, professionals and people who have survived a brain injury and have a story to tell. We wish all entrants the very best of luck.’
