
Rachel Taylor – Operational Manager, South Wales Trauma Network
Rachel qualified as a registered nurse in Cardiff in 1996 and started her career on the intensive care unit in UHW, before spending time in clinical research in both Cardiff and Birmingham. Rachel then spent 10 years working in the Emergency Department at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport and as a senior nurse in Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny. Over the next 6 years, Rachel worked in a number of managerial posts. She was the head of operations for patient flow in Cardiff and Vale and then took on the post of assistant general manager for unscheduled care in Aneurin Bevan Health Board. Rachel joined the South Wales Trauma Network in early 2020 as the Operational Manager and was involved in the commencement of the live network in September 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic she was redeployed to the role of general manager at the Dragons Heart Field Hospital in Cardiff. Rachel is currently also supporting the COVID-19 vaccination programme for NHS Wales alongside her role in the South Wales trauma network.
