Mike Barnes Award for Innovation 2020

The Mike Barnes Award for Innovation 2020 is now open for applications.

The award is sponsored by Cygnet Health Care and is being run in collaboration with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Brain Injury MedTech Co-operative, one of eleven MedTech and In Vitro Diagnostic Co-operatives (MICs) funded by NIHR across the UK.

The Award is open for entries from everyone with an innovative project/concept in the management of Acquired Brain Injury that has originality, viability, feasibility and desirability. The Award will recognise and celebrate the most credible innovative project/concept and provide the winner with support to take it further.

UKABIF is encouraging entries from professionals from all disciplines involved in the management of Acquired Brain Injury, individuals with a brain injury and their families or carers, students, the general public, care providers and voluntary organisations, personal injury lawyers and social care workers.

The deadline for entries has been extended to the 19th October 2020 (please note the previous deadline of 30th September is still on the application forms). A shortlist of entrants will present their innovative idea to the judging panel (date TBC - this will be done remotely). The winner will be announced no later than the 16th November 2020.

The winner will have access to NIHR Brain Injury MIC’s network, which provides research design, business support, access to a patient advisory group and support with making bids for further funding. You will also be invited to attend UKABIF’s conference in 2021 free of charge.
