On 1st July Chris Bryant, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Acquired Brain Injury and Chloë Hayward of UKABIF met with Michael Gove, Minister for the Cabinet Office.
The meeting was extremely productive resulting in Mr Gove's agreement to convene group of ministers from health and social care, education, justice, sport, defence, housing, welfare and others to discuss brain injury before the end of July 2020.
UKABIF has produced briefing information for the cabinet office and is consulting on issues, which will serve to steer that first meeting.
Chris Bryant recorded this short film giving his thoughts on the meeting and the next steps.
Thanks to @UKABIF and @michaelgove for a really important meeting today looking at how we can pull all the strands of Government together to provide real support for people with acquired brain injury. First joint ministerial meeting by end of July! pic.twitter.com/gb6hjDgUQh
Well done & thanks again to Chris Bryant MP and to Chloe Hayward for getting the meeting and on getting a promise from Mr Gove. UKABIF really can make good use of membership income for the benefit of people with an ABI & the providers of ABI services. With so many charities feeling the impact of the drop in their income & limited ability to income generate, renewing your membership (as I have just done) is a very sound investment.
