Mike barnes innovation award 2019

The Mike Barnes Award for Innovation 2019 is sponsored by Cygnet Health Care and is being run in collaboration with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Brain Injury MedTech Co-operative.

The Award is open for entries from everyone with an innovative project/concept in the management of Acquired Brain Injury that has originality, viability, feasibility and desirability. The Award will recognise and celebrate the most credible innovative project/concept and provide the winner with support to take it further. The innovative project/concept in the management of Acquired Brain Injury could, for example, improve an aspect of neurorehabilitation in hospital, and/or in the community, and/or in school, and/or in prison or in connection with sport-related concussion.

The United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF) is encouraging entries from professionals from all disciplines involved in the management of Acquired Brain Injury, individuals with a brain injury and their families or carers, students, the general public, care providers and voluntary organisations, personal injury lawyers and social care workers. The Award is open to UKABIF members and non-members in the UK.

The deadline for entries is the 30th September 2019 – entries made after this date will not be considered. A shortlist of entrants will present their innovative idea on the 7th October 2019* (this can be done remotely via skype or webex) to the judging panel.

The winner will be announced no later than 11th November 2019. The winner will have access to NIHR Brain Injury MIC’s network, which provides research design, business support, access to a patient advisory group and support with making bids for further funding. You will also be invited to attend UKABIF’s conference in 2020 free of charge.
