This may include a combination of physical, cognitive, sensory, psychological and social needs, dual and multiple diagnoses, as well as frequently complicated family dynamics. The Trust provides a range of specialist (eating disorder, affective disorder, mother and baby, gender dysphoria, mental health services for the Deaf, cognitive behavioural therapy, psychotherapy services) and neuro-rehabilitation assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services to individuals with mental health and/or physical health needs in a range of settings from their home to specialist inpatient units. Services are commissioned both locally and regionally and have recently undergone an exciting development agenda to deliver best practice in purpose built facilities.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of a nationally recognised multi-disciplinary neurobehavioral team. This post, based at Walkergate Park will offer valuable and specialist experience of working with people with behavioural and cognitive impairment following an acquired brain injury. Working as an autonomous occupational therapist, you will provide a valuable role in assessing and delivering interventions focused on management of behaviour and enabling participation. Good support is available from both occupational therapy and multi-disciplinary colleagues with well established work based learning and specialist training. An excellent knowledge Centre is available on site.
You will work with patients admitted for rehabilitation from across the region. The post will also link with an occupational therapist based within a newly established community behavioural transitional team.
You will join a specialist service which includes occupational therapists working into neurorehabilitation, North East Drive Mobility, spasticity clinic and specialist community teams.
This a fixed term temporary post and is offered on a 24 month contract.
