The West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre offers a wide range of services for people with disabilities within the region including Specialist Orthotics, Amputee Rehabilitation, In and Outpatient Neuro-Rehabilitation, Posture and Mobility, Clinical Measurements Laboratory.

There are 4 physiotherapy rotations: Specialist Orthotics, Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) the Inpatient Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit on Ward 9, Moseley Hall Hospital, and Hunters Moor Neuro-Rehabilitation Centre based in Hall Green.

The Regional Orthotic Service provides a specialist service to patients whose orthotic needs are physically or technically complex, requiring a multi-disciplinary approach to assessment and treatment.. This service is principally provided for adults who have a long-term neurological conditions or complex foot problems related to diabetes.

The Regional Inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation Unit specialises in inpatient rehabilitation for adults after neurological events: head injury, strokes, hypoxic brain injury and non traumatic spinal cord injury, and assessments for patients with other conditions including multiple sclerosis and brain tumour. Neuro-Rehabilitation is also provided to patients at Hunters Moor – an exciting new joint venture with the Independent sector.

The FES rotation has recently been developed to cope with the demand on the service, which to date has been offered solely by our Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in FES. This is a rare opportunity to develop specialist FES skills to a high level in a very supportive environment.

The post holder will provide physiotherapy input to the clinics participating in multi disciplinary assessment and co-ordination of treatment programmes for patients using these services. You should have broad post-registration experience with at least 6 months experience in neurology.
