Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist looking for your next challenge?
 
Here at The Disabilities Trust, we are seeking an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of a multi disciplinary team at Daniel Yorath House in Leeds.
 
Daniel Yorath House House in Garforth, Leeds; a specialist neurobehavioural rehabilitation centre for people with acquired brain injury. Opened in 1992, it was one of the first assessment and rehabilitation centres for brain injury in the UK.
 
As Daniel Yorath House’s new SALT, your role will be to provide speech and language input to our Service Users with acquired brain injuries and we are therefore looking for people with excellent interpersonal communication skills and who have the ability to use their own initiative and be flexible in their approach to work.
 
Key responsibilities and expectations include:

  • To work as an independent clinical professional with knowledge and skills, problem solving and clinical reasoning in a specialist area.
  • To manage, with support and supervision, and prioritise a caseload of clients with complex mental/physical health needs and/or challenging behaviour
  • To use evidence based/client centred principles and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intervention
  • To facilitate complex discharge packages of care and give advice and information to other disciplines and agencies.
  • To contribute to the training and development of others when required.
  • To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Speech and language therapy Services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects.
  • To supervise other members of staff, eg Rehabilitation Support Workers, in carrying out the programmes the Speech and Language Therapist has devised

This is a part time position where you would work 28 hrs across four days, these days are usually Tuesday through Friday, though some flexibility is required for this position.
